Greycliff “Red” (original line) Lancero

I picked up a bundle of these from cigar.com. They are supposedly from the very first batch of Greycliffs in 1997. They have aged very well and are fantastic smokes, despite the small ring size (32-26). With deep earthy tones, hints of licorice, perfect draw and decent burn, these are not to be missed. They do, however, burn a little hot and are expensive for such a small smoke.

Lanceros are a dying, misunderstood cigar size. Former cigarette smokers tend to smoke these things too quickly (all cigars for that matter). They’ll burn to HOT and thus BITTER if you smoke them too quickly. Robustos and bigger are more forgiving. A lancero is a delicate flower you must nurture to fully enjoy.
Here’s a good rule of thumb to avoid the “hot”, only take ONE puff every ONE minute. Like I said earlier, plenty of former cigarette smokers never get this. They puff every other second causing the cigars to overheat and never develop.
Try to slow it down!
