I received this $29 box of 25 gars today from JRCigar. Not expecting much for the price, I was simply hoping for a “smokable” cigar to act as a filler between superior cigars.
The box these came in was actually quite nice for the price. All wood, which appeared to be pine. The only negative on the packaging was the distinct smell of lacquer from the stain they used on the box. It was bit overwhelming, much like a box of Sancho Panzas.

Smoking one of these, it had some minor burn issues. Nothing overwhelming problematic for a bargin cigar.

The taste was woody with hints of pine and paper. As this cigar warmed up, it had some distinctly odd bitter petroleum taste.

Overall, this was an average bargain cigar and pretty much what I expected. Truly, I’m not exactly excited about smoking the remaining 24. But inexpensive cigars are always good to have around for “friends” that ask if they can have a gar.
Overall Rating:

These things are just awful! I’m down to like 17 and I can’t say enough bad things about these. Good perhaps to throw at people you hate.
Ok…these are getting better with time in the humidor. I’d give them a solid 5 rating now. The draw issues are going away thanks to good humidifcation. JR just lets their gars get too dry. You have to rehumidify. Still, these are a bargin smoke, nothing more.
Down to my last two. They’re still good cheap cigars, but they burn way too hot and still have an odd finish.
[…] A good set of morning gars. Brother Dicksbain smoked 2 Arturo Fuente Double Chateau Maduros and a Taba-crappo, while Uncle Moneybag$ smoked a Romeo y Julieta Trumpet and a Single Chateau Natural. Topics discussed included: […]
