At just over $2 per stick (including shipping), this is a great deal.  The Cinco Vegas line has definitely grown on me.  I particularly like the Gold line.  In fact, when I found out that JR is running a special on the Golds, I almost wished I had ordered a box of them instead.  These are above-average everyday gars.  They’re not going to win any awards, but at this price you could be holding something far worse.

For just $39.95 you get to “spin the wheel” with JR at the helm and see what you get. They guaranteed 20 cigars last year, and they did not disappoint. At least 4 TTT trinidads, one Davidoff, one Montecristo Platnium, one Macanudo, a few Romeo y Julietas, a white owl or two and some other mediocre sticks. But for just under $40.00, you can’t go wrong with this deal–assuming history repeats itself. I suppose I should also mention it comes with JR’s assortment of unsold chotsky items: cheap cutters, jackets that are extra small, hats that don’t fit and t-shirts you won’t even use to wash your car. Maybe this year they’ll throw in a crappy ashtray or two.

But I’m a big believer in this deal. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while. I ordered two last year, and I did so again this year. Brother Dicksbain ordered just one again. Perhaps he’s waiting for the xmas deals?

Cigar.com One Day Deal

Once in a great while a deal comes along that you simply can’t ignore. Sadly, it is only once in a while and today is not that day. While this is not a accessory laden deal we’ve been seeing a lot of lately, it’s for the standard “brick” of cheapo cigars. I’ve had a few of these before. They’re loosely packed, 1-note sambas that aren’t worth it at any PPG.

We need a true premium deal from Cigar.com soon. Some CAOs or Arturo Fuentes. . .

For just $59.95 (plus $2.50 S&H), you get 40 Mancinis and a cute box. That alone makes this a great deal. Add to that the free 8-count Mancini sampler, and the price per gar is just over a buck-thirty. That’s $1.30 for a cigar that’s probably a 6.5 on our rating scale. This is an insanely good price. Con-crap-adores (Consuergas) sell for more than that, and these are far better smokes.
The only downside to this deal is that you’re getting 48 Mancini cigars, which means they’re gonna be around for a long time, no matter how many you smoke per day. I imagine these would almost be a chore to smoke after the first 25 or so. If Brother Dicksbain were still in town, I imagine we’d split this powerhouse up and smoke the savings. But he isn’t. And I’m too lazy to deal with shipping.
So, after some consideration, I’m going to pass on this deal. If you’re a heavy daily smoker on a budget, I say go for it. Of course, my name is “Uncle Moneybags,” which, naturally, means I’m loaded. I’m going to hold out for the cigar.com deal tomorrow.

Another excellent deal from cigar.com.  No BS cutters or humijars this time; just classic, great cigars.  The Cusano 18 is among my favorites, as is the CAO Gold.  Haven’t tried the Fonseca 50 or the Cinco Vegas Gold line yet, but I’m looking forward to receiving them this week.

Another weekly deal that’s packed with accessories rather than discounted gars. With a whopping PPG of $7.99, this is pretty pricey. While the Montecristo Whites have proven to be great ‘early morning gars’, the Platinum’s are not very good and I wouldn’t expect much from cigar.com’s purple lable gar. The lighter looks like it may be a Colibri, but I’d imagine they would have added that important selling point if it were. The cutter looks like a standard generic double guilltine.

This deal is only good if you need a gift for someone who is interested in cigars or you’re new to cigars and need a cutter/lighter. Otherwise PASS.

The Montecristo 70th Anniversary Ceramic Humidor Jar

This ceramic humidor was made to hold 25 Montecristo White cigars, but JR is shipping them with a paltry 20 “classic” Montecristos at regular price and passing the “savings” onto you. Free ceramic jar with regular priced cigars? I’m tired of all of JR’s Chotchsky deals. I want good deals on good gars. You can save the memoirobilia. Horrible.

JR Cigar

Buy five TTT Trinidad (Toros or Robustos) cigars and get an ashtray, Colibri Leather Cigar Case, and Torch Lighter Combo. With a PPG of $7.80, this deal is just not worth it. Sure if you don’t already have enough freebie lighters and ashtrays you might consider this as the TTT’s are great gars. I’ve only been smoking now for less than 2 yrs and I have 6 free ashtrays and a few lighters. Perhaps this is a good gift to buy for someone looking to get into cigars.

JR Cigar

JR Cigar has 6 different varieties (really 5 and an assortment pack) of 444’s. The triple 4 generally refers to 4×40 smokes, so there short and sweet. I always like to have some of the around because sometimes you only have 20-30 minutes for a smoke and these fit the bill nicely. I picked up the assortment. I have feeling brother Delonne will pass on these.

This week JR Cigar is offering a few dozen regularly priced, assorted boxes of coronas with the option to purchase a “$240.00 to $400.00″ Dunhill cigar case for $10. I have no idea who would pay that kind of money for a cigar case. Even at $10 + shipping it doesn’t seem like a good deal. Plus, no discount on cigars? We’ll pass.

Cigar.com One Day Deal

A Graycliff 10 Cigar Sampler is being offered tomorrow by Cigar.com for $75. I’ve always wanted to try a Graycliff cigar as they’re generally rated high and they have a bit of mystic surrounding them because of their orgins from the famous Old Nassau Graycliff Hotel. While the price per gar (PPG) seems a bit high for these, I think it’s a purchase I’m willing to gamble on to finally try these. Review to follow.
