Rocky Patel 1992 Vintage Toro

Posted by Uncle Moneybag$ on 05 May 2006 | Tagged as: Cigar Reviews

An excellent smoke. Long. Smooth. Creamy. This cigar, which has woody notes and a slight spice, has superior draw and burn. Could use more depth. A great cigar for a long night after an even longer day at work. Rating: 89. *********

Rockey Patel Vintage 1992

Posted by Dicksbain on 05 May 2006 | Tagged as: Cigar Reviews

I received a set of ten RP 1990’s and ten 1992’s from last weeks Cigar.com deal. They arrived in great condition and were nicely humidifed with the cigar.com pillow. This is the first of the lot I’m trying.
It’s very smooth, like most vintage gars. It’s a medium bodied smoke that’s well constructed. Burn is perfect. It’s very firm and almost seems like it would suffer from burn issues, but it doesn’t.

Overall all, a good smoke on a fine Friday evening.

CAO Criollo Bomba

Posted by Dicksbain on 05 May 2006 | Tagged as: Cigar Reviews

“Criollo” translates to native seed. It was an experimental hybrid seed grown in Cuba when they were searching for a solid tobacco strand to fight mold and other agricultural difficulties. It was later picked up by CAO and debuted as the CAO Criollo. Immediately it was dubbed a cigar that could compete with the finest Cuban cigars on the market. Grown and cultivated in Nicaragua and matched with Cuban seed Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, the Criollo has a medium to full bodied damp and earthy aroma. The CAO Criollo is another solid addition to the CAO family and a Nicaraguan masterpiece.
