Cigars Smoked
Posted by Uncle Moneybag$ on 27 Jul 2006 | Tagged as: Dominican Mornings
This is a little late, but better late than never. We didn’t really discuss much on Saturday and Sunday other than the usual, work woes, favorite cigars, and video games. We played about 5 hours of BF:V while Brother Delonne recovered from having his wisdom teeth pulled. They tell you not to smoke gars for the first few days, but nuts to that. A rather painful, but enjoyable weekend. Looking forward to playing BF:1942, generously donated by Brother Dicksbain, this weekend and smoking some Cusano 18 Connecticuts.

JR Cigar
JR Cigar has 6 different varieties (really 5 and an assortment pack) of 444’s. The triple 4 generally refers to 4×40 smokes, so there short and sweet. I always like to have some of the around because sometimes you only have 20-30 minutes for a smoke and these fit the bill nicely. I picked up the assortment. I have feeling brother Delonne will pass on these.
The Original Montecristo 444
The Montecristo Afrique 444
Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro 444
H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon 444
TTT Trinidad 444
444 Assortment

JR Cigar 1AM Madness
I just wanted to say publicly that a sorely miss JR’s 1AM madness. They used to have a super-special on Friday (saturday morning) at 1AM that would run for 1 hour. I would stay up drinking and garing until 1AM just to see this deal. JR - Bring back 1AM madness!

JR Cigar
This week JR Cigar is offering a few dozen regularly priced, assorted boxes of coronas with the option to purchase a “$240.00 to $400.00″ Dunhill cigar case for $10. I have no idea who would pay that kind of money for a cigar case. Even at $10 + shipping it doesn’t seem like a good deal. Plus, no discount on cigars? We’ll pass.

Cigar.com One Day Deal
A Graycliff 10 Cigar Sampler is being offered tomorrow by Cigar.com for $75. I’ve always wanted to try a Graycliff cigar as they’re generally rated high and they have a bit of mystic surrounding them because of their orgins from the famous Old Nassau Graycliff Hotel. While the price per gar (PPG) seems a bit high for these, I think it’s a purchase I’m willing to gamble on to finally try these. Review to follow.
2 x Graycliff Crystal PGX (6 x 50)
2 x Graycliff Espresso PG (5 x 50)
3 x Graycliff Original PGX (6 x 50)
3 x Graycliff Professionale PGX (6 x 50)

I haven’t had the opportunity to smoke many cigars from the Afrique line, so I was looking forward to this gar. For some reason I’ve shied away from these primarily African cigars. I guess when I think of Africa, cigars aren’t exactly the first thing that comes to mind…political unrest and blood diamonds dominate my perceptions.
The appearance of the wrapper is dark, oily, and slightly rougher than most other Montecristos. The construction is superb. It cut perfectly and burned smoothly throughout. Definitely Montecristo quality control is in place. Bellows a ton of smoke for a smaller cigar.
The taste hits you strong at first with it’s spicy Cameroon wrapper. This mellows out as it warms up and becomes a creamy, buttery surprise. It’s still a pretty full bodied smoke and there in lies the masterpiece of this cigar. There are very few full-bodied gars out there that are also creamy and produce a bit of peppery spice.
I didn’t expect such a great experience from this small cigar. It was a great 30 minute smoke and I look forward to another.

JR inadvertently sent me a five pack of CAO Gold Robustos, instead of the box I ordered. After some initial hassle on the phone about sending the five pack back before shipping the box, they agreed to ship the box immediately–and they threw in the five pack for free. Nice to see a company that values its die hard customers. Kudos to JR.
